Basketball Season Comes to a Close

The basketball season has come to a close for the boys and girls programs. The girls did not earn a play-in game as they only won a single league game this season, the boys program on the other hand earned a play-in game vs. Sutherlin. The Pelicans fought well, but a single player went to the foul line 18 times, scoring 16 points to put the Pelicans in a grave for the season. This marks the end of the High School career for 4 Pelican seniors. Mickey Luce, Chris Case, Bryce Miles, and Benny Pena. Coach Crawford expressed a frustration with the officiating at the game and stated "We're a team that could've gone on to the final site. We fell victim to poor officiating that we just couldn't overcome." Crawford continued " We just need to keep our heads up and look to next season. We have a lot of JV (Junior varsity) players that are coming up as well as our varsity returners." Crawford said that he is sorry to see his 4 senior players go, but wishes them the best in the future.

The Pelicans basketball team will be hosting workshops this summer for elementary and Junior High students in the KU Aux Gym. Call the KU athletics office for more info.
