Klamath Union Opens Softball Season with 15-3 Loss to Queens

Klamath Falls, Ore.-The Klamath Union Pelicans opened up their softball season with a 15-3 loss to the Chiloquin Queens on Tuesday night. The Pelicans were led in the circle by Sophia Allred who threw over 140 pitches in the Pelicans loss.

Chiloquin would start the game off by scoring seven runs in the first inning. The lead off hitter Jackson would single to short, steal second, and scored on a throwing error by the catcher. This would set the tone for the inning. With Chiloquin sending 13 batters to the plate. Scoring seven of them. Allred would throw 32 pitches in the inning. KU answered in the bottom of the inning scoring one run on a single hit. The game would take the same tenor, the Queens on top.

Chiloquin would put runs on the board in all of the innings played except the 6th and final inning of play. Making their total score 15. The Pelicans would score three times, in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th inning. All of the runs that came across the plate were scored by Sarah Goucher. Goucher was not credited with a single at bat in the competition but was walked three times. The game was called in the 6th inning due to the lack of daylight. The Pelicans fall to 0-1 on the year and look ahead to their game with Sisters on Friday the 17th at Conger Park.
